NBDC Launches Enlighten, a New On-Demand Training Platform for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners

Live on January 26th, Nebraska entrepreneurs and small business owners can access on-demand training.

Omaha, Nebraska – Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and a department of the College of Business Administration is excited to announce the launch of their on-demand training platform, Enlighten.

NBDC supports Nebraska small business owners and entrepreneurs and knows the challenges they face in accessing information on their time. Due to the pandemic, all face-to-face consulting and in-person training moved to virtual. With the CARES Act, NBDC was awarded the funding to build an online, on-demand training platform addressing the needs of the small business owner.

Enlighten is a virtual library of training videos for entrepreneurs and small businesses across Nebraska. NBDC selected facilitators who are subject matter experts from a wide variety of disciplines. Topics include legal considerations to cybersecurity, employee development, protecting intellectual property, and investor relationships.

On January 26, 2021, Enlighten will launch with the first five topic tracks. Each track consists of modules that are less than 20 minutes long and will be accessible 24/7. All videos are closed captioned and have transcripts available. Access to the library and supplemental materials are currently free to Nebraska small businesses now through October 2021.

"Enlighten is the realization of a long-standing vision of NBDC: to reach Nebraska entrepreneurs and business owners on their schedule, said Catherine Lang, NBDC State Director. "We are excited to offer topics that are top of mind to Nebraska businesses and to provide this on a platform that is convenient for them."

NBDC will continue to add new topics to the Enlighten library to include participation from NBDC's other programs: PTAC, Innovation & Technology, NU Connections, and SourceLink® Nebraska as well as look at enhancements for the platform. Collaboration from community partners will also provide new and relevant content for the Nebraska small business owner.

Lang adds, "We look forward to growing and developing Enlighten, offering valuable information and linking entrepreneurs and business owners to the services and expertise across our state."
